Your journey begins in the fertile farmlands of Sequim otherwise known by the Jamestown Indian Tribe as Sequin. Shadowed by the Olympic Mountain Range Panoramic views of the Cascades and majestic presence of Glacier Peak and Mt. Baker, Sequim welcomes you. Take Highway 101 to 2 miles east of Sequim on Palo Alto Road 8 miles to Forest Services Road 2880.
As you approach the Olympic foothills past farmlands homesteads livestock and wildlife breathtaking views of snow capped mountains and wild flowers reveal the Olympic National Forest and Forest Services Rd.
which leads to Two Forks Dungeness Camp Ground.
Venturing slowly down the steep gravel road yielding to oncoming traffic stop and take in the scent of that sweet mountain air and indulge in the spectacular view of vast wilderness.
Arriving at the base and entry into the Olympic National Forest area park directly ahead on the east side of the river with the bridge to your right. The Dungeness River second fastest dropping in the Western United States invites you to quench your thirst in its crystal clear embodiment of what can only be described as a pristine aquafer.
Two Forks Camp Ground apens to the public in the summer and closes at the end of September. While camping options are limited during that time of year the park and surrounding valley is certainly open for other kinds of activities. In early Spring a transformation takes place. Nestled in a valley of mushrooms the forest floor displays these beautiful and unusual gifts of mother nature. Mycologists and mushroom enthusiasts alike venture on to this exceptional valley in hopes of finding that special mushroom. Fall is also a beautiful time of year to explore as Maple trees display an array of Autumn colors and the scent of moist earth penetrates the air with every breath. Winter and summer also offer an array of activities for both the Naturalist and adventurer to explore. Links are provided. Follow the trail directly ahead of your parked vehicle a quater of a mile about a 5 minute walk to the zip line. Take your time stop and look around hug a tree some are huge and old. Be respectful it is an honor to be in their presence. The trail is hand carved with picks and shovels in order to maintain the true essence of the valley. Tufts of moss cover the trees, native plants, ferns, berries, and delicate flowers spread throughout the forest floor. In this pristine environment sheets of lychen elegantly drape like sleeves on a kimono. Breathtaking views of the valley and river below are endless with many surprises along the way.The river talks, birds mimmick, frogs croak, giant slugs and snails slither and wild animal tracks are ever so present. Every turn reveals a gift and just when you think its over the journey has only begun.
Buckle up you are about to fly across a roaring river hovering 25 feet above this impressive power not to mention the huge bolders. Zip across or stop and hangout in mid air and check out the view. Salmon spawn in shallow pools while eagles soar up river and feed. In all the forest is alive.
THE CABIN
Smoothe river stepping stones lead up to a solid log stairway and covered front deck. Two additional decks extend on opposite sides and offer additional space for star gazing and entertaining.
Camouflaged under a canopy of 220 footDouglas Fir trees on 6.2 acres of virgin old growth the cabin is surrounded by the Olympic National Forest and adjacent to the Buckhorn Wilderness area. Situated 75 feet above the river acres of ferns and berries adorn the valley floor in this thriving symbiotic environment.
As the last residence in the Dungeness Watershed this secluded cottage attains privacy and exclusivity. Indoors the open living area features an inclusive arrangement . Cosy yet spacious this 22 x 20 Douglas Fir Stave styled log cabin incorporates kitchen and dinning area with built in three poster log bed. The queen sized canopy bed also functions as a hidden storage unit. Added warmth and comfort is achieved with an 1876 Round Oak wood stove. Professionally rebuilt and renickled this ornate antiquity maintains both its value and usefullness while adding a certain ambiance and glow. Exterior logs are log oiled and rope chinked with a new roof and skylights recently replaced. Every effort and care has been made to protect and enhance the natural beauty and structure of the building.
FRONT DECK
Sturdy 22 x 8 covered deck functions as entry and walkway. Roof extends over entire length of deck with small skylight. Tree house view of river front landscape and activities below. Open ended walkway leads to cabin entery through studyDutch doors that open inward.
KITCHEN
Wood cabinets and shelving provide storage for food and kitchen linens. In addition to the tile and lamenent countertop the stainless sink with antique brass fixtures provide gravity fed water. The kitchen window services the side deck.
ACTIVITIES
Kayaking
The upper Dungeness is 51/2 miles long and rated as a class 3 by the American White Water Society. Beginning from Two Forks Campground to the Dungeness Fish Hatchery. For the truly adventurist you can extend the trip by beginning at Gold Creek viewing 1200ft. of river and property frontage all the way to the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
KAYAKING
Situated at the base of the trail to the property lies Two Forks Campground. It is the only official camp ground within the Dungeness Watershed. With limited tent sites nestled amongst 200 ft. MOUNTAIN BIKING
The entire upper Dungeness is mountain bike country with 2 long runs. One from Tubalcain to Gold Creek and the second from the upper Dungeness Trail down to Gorge Camp. For more information see link.

The backcountry in the upper Dungeness offers unlimited hiking on and off trails. Adjacent to the property the Buckhorn Wilderness networks into hundreds of trail miles within the Olympic National Park. For more information see links.
FISHING
Fishermen are not just drawn to this wild river for the Steel Head and Cut throat trout. Surrounded by magnificient old growth virgin cedars and fir trees bald eagles is a true deep wilderness experience. Fishing amongst old virgin growth forest for Steel head and Cutthroat trout. Along the 1200ft. property frontage in deep water pools observe a birds eye view of pinks and coho spawning. Other species such as chinook and chum also migrate through and spawn.
